Daihatsu Tanto fourth generation: access, engine and drive layout

Japan’s fourth-generation Daihatsu Tanto has a large left-side opening when the front door and sliding rear door are open. The standard Tanto and Tanto Custom use 0.66-litre three-cylinder engines, naturally aspirated at 52 hp or turbocharged at 64 hp, with a CVT and front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.

The Miracle Walk-Through system is described with extended front-seat travel: 380 mm for the passenger seat and up to 540 mm for the driver’s seat with the selector in P. Check that this feature and powered rear-door operation are fitted to the version. These cars have four seats and a 2,460 mm wheelbase; the configurations list 150 or 165 mm of clearance. The 2WD label alone does not determine it: check the trim, cabin conversion and Smart Assist equipment.
