Mazda3 BP sedan: engines by year and drive choices

Japan’s fourth-generation Mazda3 sedan has a calmer rear design than the five-door version. The early 2019–2020 range included a 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G petrol engine with 156 hp, a 1.8-litre Skyactiv-D diesel with 116 hp and a 2.0-litre Skyactiv-X mild hybrid with a 180 hp combustion engine. A 111 hp 1.5-litre petrol version was added in May 2020. Trims from January 2021 include a 130 hp diesel and Skyactiv-X with a 190 hp combustion engine; check the year and engine together.

The selected Japanese sedan trims list a six-speed automatic gearbox, with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive available. Five seats, a 2,725 mm wheelbase and 140 mm of clearance provide basic reference points. Check usable boot space on the selected car, including its equipment. An 8.8-inch display and head-up display are described for early versions; verify the screen, wheels and assistance package against the build date and exact trim.
