BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe: Single Body, Different 218i and M235i xDrive

The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is a four-door body in which different versions were produced. Two cars from the examples allow you to compare them: the 2021 218i M Sport from Japan with a 140 hp 1.5-liter engine and front-wheel drive, and the 2022 M235i xDrive from South Korea with a 306 hp two-liter engine and all-wheel drive.
218i M Sport: everyday version
The 218i M Sport is a calm version of the Gran Coupe: a small 1.5-liter engine with 140 hp. and front-wheel drive are designed for everyday driving. Its engine, gearbox and drive are the same as those of the regular 218i, and the difference concerns the chassis. In the 2021 Japanese range, the 218i M Sport received 18-inch wheels with low-profile 225/40 tyres, while the regular 218i received 16-inch wheels with 205/55 tyres. The difference in the wheels is one of the reasons to look at the M Sport’s equipment separately when choosing a car.
M235i xDrive: a fast version of the same body
The M235i xDrive is a version for those who care about performance: the 306 hp two-liter engine is powered by xDrive all-wheel drive, which helps to transmit so much power to the road. The versions of the series can be compared on the BMW 2 Series page in the catalogue.
