BMW X4 xDrive20i M Sport: all-wheel drive and coupe-like body

The BMW X4 attracts primarily with its silhouette: a high seating position and four side doors are combined with a roof that smoothly goes to the short stern. In the xDrive20i petrol engine, this appearance is adjacent to a two-liter four-cylinder engine with 184 hp, an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The M Sport package adds a sporty look, keeping this version of the engine.
The roof determines the character of the body
In the second generation X4, the sloping roofline is the main feature, and not a slight difference in finish. The car remains a five-door, with a separate tailgate, but its rear end is arranged differently than that of a crossover with an almost vertical stern. When choosing such a body, it is useful to look not only at the volume of the trunk, but also at the shape of the things to be carried: a high load requires a different space than suitcases or travel bags.
At the same time, the rear sofa folds in parts in a ratio of 40:20:40. The central section can be lowered for a long thing, leaving side seats for passengers. This is the practical side of the X4, which is less noticeable in the photo than the roof and large wheels.
What does xDrive20i M Sport mean
The xDrive designation refers to all-wheel drive, and 20i refers to the petrol version. For the second-generation X4, BMW combines it with an eight-speed Steptronic automatic. M Sport is a separate part of the equipment: a sports steering wheel, body and interior design belong to the package, and the engine is still a two-liter engine with 184 hp.
In the Korean lineup of the restyled X4, BMW separated the xLine, M Sport and M Sport Pro. Therefore, one M sign is not enough to attribute laser headlights, adaptive suspension or a specific wheel size to the car. Such differences become especially important when outwardly similar cars cost differently: it makes sense to compare the equipment that you will use every day.
Equipping Korean restyling
When launching the updated X4 in Korea in November 2021, BMW included leather sports seats with front ventilation and three-zone climate control as standard. These are different functions: ventilation helps in hot weather, and a separate rear area allows passengers to adjust the temperature independently of the front of the cabin.
For this Korean line, Driving Assistant Professional with active cruise control and lane keeping, parking assistant and assistance when reversing along the previously traveled path were also announced. Assistants facilitate individual actions of the driver, but driving the car remains his task. For a particular car, the VIN configuration and the performance of the equipment after import are important.
The X4 is interesting for its combination of an expressive body and ordinary everyday features – a separate tailgate, a folding sofa, all-wheel drive and a comfortable interior. Choosing a car from Korea allows you to look for just such a combination, preserving the differences between the engine, the design package and additional equipment.
