Skoda Superb: the Chinese version of the TSI280 DSG and the new fourth generation

Since 2001, the Skoda Superb has remained the oldest Skoda model with an internal combustion engine, and it was also produced in China. In November 2023, Skoda introduced the fourth generation of the Superb, and the 2025 car from the price example in the Chinese version of the TSI280 DSG belongs to the previous, third generation. For the buyer, they differ in bodies, choice of engines and controls.

Chinese version of TSI280 DSG

The previous generation Superb in the TSI280 DSG version is a liftback with a 1.4-liter turbo engine for 150 hp, a seven-speed DSG robot and front-wheel drive, with an electric tailgate. In the Chinese range of that generation, there is also a version with a two-liter engine.

Fourth generation

The new Superb is offered as a liftback and a Combi station wagon. Petrol engines are three, one of them with a mild hybrid system, two diesels, and a rechargeable hybrid with an electric range of more than 100 km on the WLTP cycle is designed for a station wagon. The power of the versions is from 150 to 265 hp, each has an automatic DSG.

Inside, the fourth generation received a free-standing screen up to 13 inches in size, and the gearbox lever was moved to the steering column, which freed up the center console. Some of the functions of the car and multimedia are transferred to the Smart Dials rotary knobs, and the head-up display is offered as an option for the first time for the Superb. These solutions belong to the new generation and are not transferred to the Chinese car of the previous generation.
