The car is floating, the passport is changing. Stepwgn with a deadline

Sometimes, along with the car, you are also ordered a specific month in the calendar. On August 16, 2026, Danila contacted us: you need a Honda Stepwgn Spada in a new body, low mileage, good condition, a budget of about 2.1-2.2 million rubles. And it is desirable that the car is already in Russia in September.

That is, just finding a nice Spada was half the task. We still had to have time to buy it, bring it to our base, prepare it, send it by sea and go through the registration. You can admire the Japanese lots as much as you want, but no one promised to move September for us.

Spada and five days to search

Danila wanted Spada. The more affordable Air did not attract him: he wanted a more interesting appearance and a good combined interior. The original wish list also included a flip-down monitor, but cars with it were more expensive. In the end, we decided that the condition and mileage were more important to us: the monitor was no longer a prerequisite.

We began to look at auctions, choose options, and bet. The first lots went above the agreed bar. The main thing here is that the calendar does not start pressing the button for you: the fact that there is little time does not make the overpayment more pleasant. We continued to look and on August 21 we picked up the right car. From the beginning of the selection to the purchase – five days.

It turned out to be Honda Stepwgn Spada RP6, the first registration is July 2022, 1.5 Turbo, petrol, 150 hp, 2WD, black body and only 16,752 kilometers. According to the auction – 4 points, salon B.

The equipment is also good: 11.4-inch original navigation with TV and Bluetooth, Honda Sensing with adaptive cruise and lane keeping, blind spot control, two electric sliding doors, LED headlights and heated front seats. The trunk is also electric – and you can remember the height of its opening, so as not to introduce the door to a low ceiling later. There is no 360° camera and a flip-down monitor in this particular car. We chose this option, maintaining priority on condition, mileage and budget.

What was in the auction sheet

For reference : 4 is the total auction score, B is a separate cabin score. On the front and rear bumpers there are A1, that is, small scratches; the letter shows the type of defect, the number shows its severity on the scale of the site. In the comments of the inspector – steering wheel scuffs, damage to the seat upholstery, minor dirt and scratches in the cabin. Therefore, we look at the entire sheet: you can’t tell the condition of the car with one number.

And a special greeting to the Japanese handwriting. At the right threshold, the inspector left such a note that even our staff Japanese specialist could not make out what exactly was written there. As for the car itself, everything turned out to be intact and neat in this place. The car arrived, and the Japanese puzzle remained with us.

Do you want to learn how to read the auction sheet yourself? On our website there are detailed instructions with an interactive sheet: hover the cursor over the desired field – a translation with an explanation appears next to it. From your phone, just click. Using the tutorial example, you can calmly deal with the assessments, comments of the inspector and marks on the body.

The appearance of the Spada is also characteristic: a wide grille, dark chrome, a black body and standard 16-inch Berlina Black alloy wheels with dark spoke treatment. Everything is assembled in one dark tone. It seems to be a family bus, but it looks like the head of security will take the children to the kindergarten. This is the composure of the Spada: the convenience of the minivan was packed into a rather serious muzzle.

Buying and Exploring in Japan

At the auction, the car was won for 3,025,000 yen. With expenses in Japan and freight, the invoice turned out to be 3,215,000 yen, in rubles on the date of payment – 1 787 540 ₽. The exchange rate in those days also decided to participate in history and was constantly growing, so the usual phrase “we’ll see a little more” had a very specific price.

August 24 , the invoice was paid, and on August 26 , the Stepwgn was already at our base in Japan. We made a detailed review, photos of the body, interior and parts, and sent it to Danila. Of the nuances of the condition – a badly cracked seat. Here is a small mileage for you: we look at the numbers on the odometer, but the car itself still needs to be checked live. Then we moved on to preparation.

Inside, this theme is continued by a dark combined cabin and seven seats. In the second row there are two separate seats with ottomans: you can stretch your legs, and the seats themselves move back and forth, and across the cabin. There are folding tables on the backs of the front seats. The third row is retracted under the floor – the minivan can quickly change its profession: today it carries seven, tomorrow it frees up space for luggage. These are the little things that explain every day why you need to buy a large car at all.

Tyres and preparation before shipment

And here begins my favorite part – the wheels. The car is fresh, the mileage is low, and the tires on it were frankly bald. Sorry, such garbage. You can’t draw the tread back with an auction valuation, so they didn’t leave this stuff on the car.

The original wheels were preserved, and the tyres were put fresh, a little larger – 215/60 R16. Now on fresh ones – as it should be. The kit cost 25,000 yen, another 5 000 cost to change shoes. All together – 30,000 yen, or 18,720 rubles at the payment rate.

For comparison: according to my estimate, in Russia, for a fresh set of 2025, you would have to cook from 30 thousand rubles, and then still deal with the purchase and change of shoes. Here this issue was closed before shipment: you get the car already on normal tires, and you do not start getting acquainted with it with a trip to tire stores.

At the same time, in our service, the engine oil and oil filter were replaced for free – as a gift according to the offer that was valid for this car. It turned out to be quite a mundane preparation: good wheels, fresh oil, a proven car. Everything that does not particularly shine in the auction photo, but then you need it every day.

The car is floating, the passport is changing

September 9 The Stepwgn was delivered to a Japanese port, and on September 10 it sailed to Vladivostok. Then it seemed that everything was going according to schedule.

September 9 – Japanese port. September 10 – departure by sea, September 14 – Vladivostok.

But after sending the car, Danila had to replace his passport. Documents for customs clearance have already been prepared for the previous data. In general, the car did not change its mind about driving, just its paper history decided to change lanes.

We contacted Danila and the brokers again, updated the data and redid the necessary documents. As a result, this did not affect the timing: on September 14, the Stepwgn arrived in Vladivostok, September 18, the car was released from customs, and by September 21 , it, along with a set of documents, was ready for issuance.

Expenses and issuance in Vladivostok

Customs payments amounted to 271 159,96 ₽: duty 252 418,96 ₽, customs fee 13 541 ₽ and recycling fee 5 200 ₽. Brokerage services — another 67 000 ₽, GTYRES commission — 50 000 ₽. The broker’s account is dated September 21.

Deal documents: invoice, customs calculation and broker's invoice
Expense documents: invoice, 271,159.96 rubles for customs payments and 67,000 rubles for brokerage services.

The total to Vladivostok is 2,194,420 rubles with all commissions. This amount includes preparation with tyres. Changing the oil and filter did not increase the cost. We helped to arrange insurance through our partner; its cost is not included in this total.

This is the cost of a specific transaction in August-September 2026. For another car, costs and payments are calculated separately.

September 25 , Danila’s representative arrived in Vladivostok, and on September 26 he received Stepwgn and ready documents. There was no further delivery by car transporter in this case – the issuance was in Vladivostok. 31 dayspassed from purchase to readiness, and in September, as agreed, they met.

Here’s the story: we started by looking for Spada in the right budget, on the way we managed to change her shoes, service, send her by sea and even survive the replacement of the owner’s passport. But by the time Danila was issued, she already had a car on fresh tires, with fresh oil and closed registration, and September finally stopped hanging over us as a red circle in the calendar.

At GTYRES , we take care of all the way from “this is what I want” to the moment when we hand over the keys to you. Selection, verification, calculations, preparation, delivery and registration – we keep every step of the transaction under control. We deal with all the Japanese and paper geography, and you just have to get your car and get behind the wheel.

Other generations and versions are collected in the Honda Stepwgn catalog.

For comparison, see the 2022 Stepwgn in the catalog and the Stepwgn generations guide — it helps make sense of the body styles, doors and seating.
